D. Anne Bivins Named Vice President of Hospice
VNA Care Network & Hospice recently welcomed D. Anne Bivins, RN, MSN, MBA, as vice president of hospice.
Bivins brings more than 30 years of experience in nursing and health care management to her
role overseeing palliative care and hospice services for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.
"I long have had an interest in helping people better understand that palliative care and hospice are about living every day free of physical and spiritual pain. The ability to assist patients and their families to remain in familiar surroundings supported by sophisticated professional care is truly a privilege," said Bivins.
VNA Care Network & Hospice's Care Choices palliative care program offers pain and symptom management and other services for patients pursuing curative/restorative treatment for cancer, cardiac disease, and other serious illnesses.
Hospice combines physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical support to help terminally ill patients and their loved ones focus on life. Care is provided in patients' homes, nursing homes, assisted living and other facilities. Patients who are unable to remain at home may live and receive care at the agency's homelike hospice residences, Chilton House in Cambridge, Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, and Tippett Home in Needham.
Bivins most recently served as director of quality improvement/privacy and risk management for VNA Care Network & Hospice's home health care, hospice, wellness programs, and other services. Prior to joining VNA Care Network & Hospice, she was part of the senior management team of Partners Home Care, president and CEO of Newton Wellesley Home Health Services, and director of clinical services for the VNA of the South Shore.
Bivins received her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Boston College and master's in business administration from Suffolk University. She is a past president and board member of the Home and Health Care Association of Massachusetts.
