Gloucester Office Celebrates 95th Anniversary with Wellness Event

The agency's Gloucester office, originally known as Gloucester’s District Nurses, is celebrating 95 years of providing home health care on Cape Ann. Home health care helps people of all ages and their loved ones cope with illness and injury while continuing to live in their own homes. Services include nursing, rehabilitation therapy, home health aide support, social work and nutrition. The agency’s hospice offers physical, emotional, practical and spiritual support to help terminally ill patients and their loved ones live as fully as possible.

The open house will feature bone density screenings using portable equipment (pictured) that scans participants’ ankle and heel bones, which correlate well with identifying hip and spine fracture risk. Osteoporosis is a disease that affects bone mass, resulting in fragile bones that are more likely to break. Age is one of the greatest risk factors for osteoporosis, and women are four times more likely to develop the disease than men.

Attendees may also have their blood sugar and blood pressure checked, enjoy refreshments, enter for the chance to win door prizes, get fall prevention and other wellness tips, receive a special gift, and meet staff from their local Visiting Nurses.

The event is free. For more information, contact Beth Sobezenski at 978-283-2020, ext. 1361 or esobezenski@vnacarenetwork.org. More information about VNA Care Network & Hospice is available by calling 800-728-1862 or e-mailing info@vnacarenetwork.org.
