Make a lunch break even more nourishing with VNA Care Network & Hospice's Lunch and Learn talks on a variety of health-related topics. Registered nurses, professional health educators, and specialists will come to your business to present an individual talk or a series of workshops tailored to the needs of your workforce.
SUGGESTED TOPICS
- Making stress the spice of life. Find ways to better manage stress. Discussion covers preventing burnout, stress reduction strategies, relaxation response, and yoga.
- All heart. Learn about risk factors for developing heart disease and simple lifestyle changes to improve cardiovascular health and overall wellbeing.
- You are what you eat. Make healthy eating easy with tips for nutritious snacking, preparing heart healthy meals, getting the skinny on fats, savvy supermarket shopping, and more.
- Make no bones about it: women's health concerns. Address the special health needs of women including osteoporosis, pregnancy, breast health, managing menopause, and heart health.
- Making smoking history. Tobacco use is the no. 1 preventable cause of death in this country. Using an addiction model instead of scare tactics, this workshop helps increase smokers' motivation to stop.
- Sandwich generation. Caring for a parent is often "sandwiched" between working outside the home, keeping up a household, and caring for young children. Learn practical strategies to keep yourself healthy and sane while being there for others.
- We've got your back. Reduce the risk of back injuries both on and off the job. Learn about body mechanics, lifting techniques, simple exercises, and proper posture.
- Increase your cultural IQ. Cultural competency can make the difference in customer service. This workshop helps individuals and organizations examine their own cultures as a first step in the process of cultural competency development.
- Alternative therapies. People are turning to massage therapy, reiki, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and a host of other "alternative" therapies as part of a healthy lifestyle. Get an overview of current practices.
