Rose Monahan Hospice Home
The Rose Monahan Hospice Home is a homelike place where individuals facing a life-limiting illness may live and receive hospice care. Our compassionate staff also offers emotional and spiritual support to loved ones.
The residence, located in Worcester, Massachusetts, is the only licensed inpatient hospice in the Central Massachusetts/MetroWest area, offering care for acutely ill, medically complex patients without the need for transferring patients to a hospital.

SETTING
The Rose Monahan Hospice Home has 10 private bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and patio or deck overlooking the wooded yard and Coes Pond. Registered nurses are on staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. (Take a virtual tour.)
Rooms are fully furnished with a mix of antiques and contemporary pieces. Bedrooms are equipped with an electric hospital bed, cable television, nurse's call system, telephone, dresser, and closet.
Families, friends, and other guests may visit as often as they like. Although there are no set visiting hours, guests are asked to respect the privacy and comfort of other residents.
The two-level home, complete with elevator, offers ample space for quiet family discussions or private reflection in cozy nooks. For socializing with others, the common living areas are the dining room, sun dappled living room, sundeck, or shaded patio.
The residence was established by the former Hospice of Central Massachusetts, now part of VNA Care Network & Hospice, in 1997 and designed specifically to provide housing for terminally ill individuals of all ages.
INSURANCE
Most insurance policies, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover visits by the hospice team, medical equipment, and medications related to terminal illness. The room and board fee may not be covered by insurance. VNA Care Network & Hospice staff will help determine insurance coverage and make every effort to create flexible solutions for those who seek care. Some funding is available to assist those in financial need.
INPATIENT HOSPICE AT THE ROSE MONAHAN HOSPICE HOME
The Rose Monahan Hospice Home inpatient facility is licensed to provide an inpatient level of care for acutely ill, medically complex patients in a homelike environment. The residence is staffed with three shifts of registered nurses skilled in the provision of hospice care and acute symptom management.
The inpatient hospice serves patients of all ages with the focus on providing compassionate, skilled end-of-life care. Most insurances will cover the cost for patients who meet the criteria for inpatient level care.
